we could perhaps "speed up" a prisoner's mind. "Uploading the mind of a convicted criminal and running it a million times faster than normal would enable the uploaded criminal to serve a 1,000 year sentence in eight-and-a-half hours," Roache writes.

A criminal is convicted and sent to prison . Everyone from his/her family to the victims family are thinking he/she is gonna be gone for several years at least. So a day and a half later, the criminal shows up , looks around and mentions how nothings changed ne bit, even the bathroom towels seem to be the same ones , but how could that be ??? after a 1000 years that he / she has been incarserated ???

We'll that is one way of fixing the criminal.... make him/her think that he/she has served a 1000 year sentence in prison.

I bet they would come out mentally healthy and rehabilitated... ready to be a productive member of society... or not.

Why would everyone think the criminal would be gone for years if they knew the sentence was only a year and a half?

I feel that it is not the best thing to do. Messing with someone mentally like that. You can't fix everyone or anyone in that matter.

It sounds like maybe those 'Oxford philosophers' just might be consuming some of those time altering 'psychoactive drugs' , to come up with something as far South of left field as this ,1000 years in 8 hours prison terms.

Or the plot to the latest Tom Cruise sci-fi blockbuster.
