How long does Social Security take? (NOT disability)

I just turned 18 last week and applied for ssi a half a month ago, and I'm just wondering how long it'll take, or if I even get approved. I have major depression, anxiety, Interstitial Cystitis, a Hiatial hernia, a pulmonary nodule in my lung, acid reflux, and mass kidney stones. I'm pretty sure it may take a long time, but I'm also hoping it won't. Any suggestions?

ssdi took about 5-6 months.
but you get back pay from when you filed.

It varies, but in my wife's case, it took about eight months. She had arachnoiditis, and a host of other problems.

I know that, and that is AWESOME :D but awww. That's a long time, and now that I'm 18 and on my own I need it for essentials. I can't work because I'm in pain every damn day, so how am I gonna last? What to do.. what to do; thanks for the heads up though I highly appreciate it.
